What is FearAlert's ASX sentiment score?
FearAlert's ASX sentiment score is a composite measure for the Australian Securities Exchange, calculated from five market factors: momentum (ASX 200 vs its 125-day moving average), RSI, 52-week range position, market breadth, and realised volatility. It scores overall market sentiment from 0 (Extreme Fear) to 100 (Extreme Greed).
The same contrarian principle applies to the ASX as to every market — when sentiment hits extreme fear, Australian stocks are often approaching a sentiment-driven bottom. FearAlert turns that insight into an automated email alert so you never miss the signal.
How it's calculated
The ASX score combines five factors into a single 0–100 reading from daily OHLCV data. Market data is sourced from licensed providers including Tiingo and Alpha Vantage where configured.
How it works
Create a FearAlert account, then add a payment method in the dashboard to activate the 1-month monitoring trial.
In the dashboard, create a new alert rule, select "Fear & Greed Index" as the indicator, and choose "ASX" as the market.
Choose the ASX score to alert on. A score of 25 or below is Extreme Fear; 30 is a broader fear threshold. You can set any level from 1 to 99 — above or below.
When the ASX FGI crosses your threshold, you get an email after the next scheduled evaluation with the current score, historical comparisons, and market context.
