What is the Aroon Indicator?
The Aroon indicator was developed by Tushar Chande in 1995. Unlike most indicators that focus on price magnitude, Aroon focuses on time — specifically, how long ago a security reached its recent high or low relative to a given period.
It consists of two lines, both scaled 0–100: Aroon Up measures how recently the highest high occurred. Aroon Down measures how recently the lowest low occurred. When Aroon Up is high and Aroon Down is low, an uptrend is developing and strengthening. When Aroon Down is high and Aroon Up is low, a downtrend is forming.
Measures how recently the highest price occurred. High Aroon Up (above 70) means the asset made a new high recently — the uptrend is strong.
Measures how recently the lowest price occurred. High Aroon Down (above 70) means the asset made a new low recently — the downtrend is strong.
How it works
Aroon Up tracks uptrends (how recently the high was made). Aroon Down tracks downtrends (how recently the low was made).
25 is the standard period. This looks back over the last 25 bars to find the most recent high or low.
Search any stock or ETF by name or symbol — SPY, AAPL, NVDA, QQQ, or any US-listed equity.
Alert when Aroon crosses above 70 (strong trend beginning) or below 30 (trend weakening). Any value 0–100 is supported.
When Aroon crosses your threshold, you'll receive a rich alert with the current value and full market context after the next scheduled evaluation.
